Overview

You can deploy a Gateway ISO image by installing the OpsRamp Gateway software onto a physical or virtual server within your infrastructure. This enables the Gateway to act as a bridge between your on-premises infrastructure and the OpsRamp SaaS platform, facilitating monitoring, management, and automation of IT operations.

Deploying a gateway includes following steps:

Download the Gateway Image

  1. Go to Setup > Downloads > Gateway.
  2. In the ISO image for VMware, Xen, Hyper-V, and Nutanix AHV tile, click Download. This downloads ISO image OpsRampGateway.iso to your local computer.

Configure the Gateway Virtual Machine

When deploying the OpsRamp Gateway, you have to configure it according to the requirements of the selected hypervisor. The following procedure outlines the specific steps to configure the gateway on VMware as an example in the following procedure.

You can configure the gateway virtual machine in the hypervisor of your choice by following similar procedures tailored to the respective hypervisor’s user interface.

  1. Connect to a Hypervisor (VMware in this example).

  2. Select Create New Virtual Machine.

  3. Enter the following information for the virtual machine:

    • Configuration: Select Typical.
    • Name and Location: Enter a unique name for your virtual machine.
    • Guest OS family: Select Linux.
    • Guest OS version: Select Ubuntu Linux (64-bit).
    • Storage: Select a destination storage section to store the virtual machine files.
    • Network: Select the number of NICs to connect to the network and select Connect at Power ON.
    • Create a Disk:
      • Enter the disk size and units. The recommended size is 40 GB.
      • Select the datastore type from the list.
    • Ready to Complete: View and verify the configuration summary of the new virtual machine.
  4. Select Edit the virtual machine settings before completion and click Continue.

  5. In the New Virtual Machine Properties window, click the Hardware tab and enter:

    • In the Memory Configuration section, enter the memory size and the corresponding unit. The recommended size is 4 GB.
    • CPUs: Enter the number of CPUs. The recommended core is two vCPUs.
    • New CD/DVD: Select Data Store ISO and browse to the location where you downloaded the gateway ISO file.
    • Verify the remaining hardware details.
  6. Click Finish.

Install the Gateway

  1. To power on the machine, right-click the machine > Power > Power On.
  2. Click Enter to install the gateway.

Register the Gateway

  1. Log in vto the platform.
  2. Go to Setup > Resources > Management Profiles.
  3. Create a management profile.
  4. Register the gateway.
