Introduction

AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (AWS DRS) reduces downtime and data loss by enabling fast, reliable recovery of on-premises and cloud-based applications with cost-effective storage, minimal compute usage, and point-in-time recovery. To get started, set up AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery on your source servers for secure data replication. The data is replicated to a staging area subnet within your selected AWS Region, leveraging a cost-efficient design that uses affordable storage and minimal compute resources for ongoing replication.

Use the OpsRamp AWS Public Cloud integration to discover and collect metrics for AWS DRS Source Servers.

Setup

To set up the AWS integration and discover the DRS Source Servers resources, do the following:

  1. Create an AWS Integration if not available in your installed integrations. For more information on how to install AWS Integration, refer to Installation and Configuration.
  2. Select DRS Source Servers under the Filter Criteria on the Edit Discovery Profile page.
  3. Save the discovery profile to make them available in the list of Discovery Profiles.
  4. Scan to discover the resources at any time independent of the predefined schedule.
  5. Once the scan is completed, you can view the DRS Source Servers resources under Infrastructure > Resources > AWS category.
  6. Create a template with collector type AWS and applicable for DRS Source Servers. See Create a Template for more information on how to create a template.
  7. Refer to Assign a Template on how to assign a template to a resource.
  8. Click the Metrics tab to view the monitoring data of the DRS Source Servers.

Event support

CloudTrail Event support

OpsRamp supports AWS Cloud trail events for the DRS Source Servers [CreateSourceServerForDrs, DeleteSourceServer]. Configure Stream CloudTrail messages in Opsramp AWS integration discovery profile.

CloudWatch Alarm support

OpsRamp supports AWS Cloud Watch Alarms for the DRS Source Servers.
